# AI singing voice generator: how to get an AI singer on your track

> An AI singing voice generator makes vocals in a voice that isn't the original singer's. Voice conversion re-sings a vocal you provide in another voice, which is what Jammable does with RVC models. Song generators such as Suno write the whole song, vocals included, from a text prompt. Jammable also offers 60,000+ voices, duets and training your own.

- Two approaches: convert an existing vocal into another voice, or generate a whole song from text.
- Conversion keeps the melody, timing and words of your vocal; only the voice changes.
- On Jammable you can put up to 6 voices on one track and choose who sings each part.
- The cleaner the input vocal, the better the AI singer sounds.

## How do AI singing voices work?

An AI singer is a model that has learned what one voice sounds like: its tone, texture and the way it moves between notes. There are two main ways to turn that into vocals on a track, plus a third that musicians use for writing.

### 1. Voice conversion: re-sing a vocal in another voice

You give the model a vocal and it sings it back in the voice it learned. The melody, timing, words and emotion come from the input; only the voice changes. This is what Jammable does, using RVC (Retrieval-based Voice Conversion) models, the same kind of model the wider AI cover community trains. [What is an RVC model?](https://www.jammable.com/blog/what-is-rvc) explains how it works.

Conversion is the right approach when you already have the performance: your own recording, a demo you sang, or a vocal you have the rights to. Because the AI follows your vocal note for note, you stay in control of the song.

### 2. Song generators: a whole song from text

Song generators take a description of a style and, optionally, lyrics, then write and produce a complete track with vocals. Suno is one of the best known: its plans start free with 50 credits a day, and Pro costs $8 a month with commercial use. You control the idea, not each note.

### 3. Vocal synthesizers: singing from notes and lyrics

Vocal synthesizers sing a melody you write as MIDI notes, with the lyrics you type under them. ACE Studio's Vocal Synth works this way and lists 140+ voices. It suits producers who want to write vocal lines without recording them.

## The three approaches to AI vocals

| Approach | You give it | You control | Examples |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Voice conversion | A vocal recording | Melody, timing, words and delivery (from your vocal) | Jammable, Kits.ai, RVC WebUI, Applio |
| Song generator | A style description and lyrics | The idea and the words; the AI writes the music | Suno; Jammable's Generate Song |
| Vocal synthesizer | MIDI notes and lyrics | Every note, in a music editor | ACE Studio |

## How to get an AI singer on a track with Jammable

1. **Open the cover maker.** Go to [Create](https://www.jammable.com/create). It works in the browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to install.
2. **Add your audio.** Upload an MP3, WAV or M4A file of up to 6 minutes, or press Record and sing into your microphone. Use your own recording or a track you have the rights to.
3. **Pick a voice.** Search 60,000+ community voices across music, anime, cartoons and gaming in the [voice library](https://www.jammable.com/models), or pick a voice you trained under *My voices*.
4. **Make it a duet, if you want.** Add up to 6 voices. Leave *Auto pick* on and the voices take turns wherever the singing changes, or choose *Choose myself* to decide who sings each part.
5. **Set the sound.** Shift the pitch for each voice, add autotune, pick an effect and set the vocal volume against the music. The tips below cover which settings matter.
6. **Create and listen.** Jammable separates the vocal from the music, converts it into the chosen voice and mixes it back. Your covers are saved in your [Library](https://www.jammable.com/library).

> **Covers need a plan** You can browse every voice and set up a cover for free, but making it needs a plan. Every plan has unlimited covers, starting at $1.99 for the first month, then $8.99 a month. See [pricing](https://www.jammable.com/pricing).

## AI duets: several voices on one track

Jammable lets you put up to 6 voices on one track. With *Auto pick*, Jammable finds where the singing changes and hands each part to the next voice. With *Choose myself*, the song is shown as one bar coloured by voice: drag the borders to move where the voices swap, tap a part to hear it, give it to another voice, split it or remove it. Each part needs at least 2.5 seconds, and choosing yourself needs an uploaded file or a recording. Every voice gets its own pitch setting, so a low voice and a high voice can share one song.

## Use your own voice as the AI singer

The AI singer can be you. Train a voice from at least 3 minutes of your own singing (6 to 10 minutes sounds better) and it appears under *My voices* on the cover maker, ready to sing whatever you record. Use it to hear a demo in your trained voice, to stack your own harmonies, or to duet with yourself. Training comes with the Creator plan ($9.99 for the first month, then $24.99 a month) and the Power plan, or a training pass. The steps are in [how to train your own AI voice model](https://www.jammable.com/blog/how-to-train-an-ai-voice-model), and [AI voice cloning](https://www.jammable.com/blog/ai-voice-cloning) explains what audio you need. Train on your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed to it.

## Generate a song from lyrics on Jammable

On paid plans, in most regions, Jammable can also write the song for you. Choose *Generate Song*, describe the style in up to 512 characters (or start from a preset such as Pop, Trap, R&B, Indie, K-pop, EDM, Lo-fi or Country), then type your lyrics with [Verse], [Chorus] and [Bridge] tags, or leave them blank and let the AI write them. The generated song is then sung in the voice you picked. It isn't offered with voices in the music category.

## Tips for better AI vocals

- **Start from a clean vocal.** The AI copies everything it hears. A dry vocal with no reverb, no crowd and no music bleeding through gives the clearest result.
- **Tell Jammable what you uploaded.** If your file is only vocals, turn on *My audio is just vocals* to skip separating the vocal from the music. If the track has harmonies or ad-libs, turn on *Split out backing vocals* for a cleaner lead.
- **Match the pitch to the voice.** Pitch moves in semitones, from -24 to +24. Going from a male to a female voice, try +12; female to male, try -12. If a voice sounds strained at the top or mumbled at the bottom, it is singing outside the range it was trained on.
- **Keep the key.** Shifting by 12 semitones moves a whole octave, so the vocal stays in the same key as the music. Other values change the key of the vocal and can clash with the backing.
- **One voice at a time.** RVC converts a single voice well and a stack of voices badly. For duets, let each voice take its own part rather than singing over each other.
- **Use autotune lightly.** Jammable's autotune snaps the vocal to key, from Light through Medium to Strong. Light is a polish; Strong is the obvious robotic sound.
- **Add one effect.** Effect presets go on the vocals or on the whole song, one at a time.
- **Set the vocal volume.** Raise or lower the vocal against the music by up to 12 dB.
- **Fix the voice, not the settings.** If your own trained voice sounds thin, add cleaner, more varied audio and retrain.

## FAQ

### What is the best AI singing voice generator?

For turning a vocal into another voice, Jammable: it has 60,000+ community voices, duets with up to 6 voices and unlimited covers on every plan. Kits.ai suits licensed voices for commercial releases, Suno generates whole songs from text, and ACE Studio sings MIDI notes you write.

### Can AI sing in my voice?

Yes. Train a voice model from at least 3 minutes of your own singing, ideally 6 to 10 minutes. On Jammable a 10-minute dataset is usually ready in about 25 minutes, and the voice then sings your own recordings and uploads.

### Is there a free AI singer?

Applio and the RVC WebUI are free and open source but run on your own computer. Suno has a free plan with 50 credits a day. On Jammable you can browse and listen to every voice for free; making covers needs a plan, from $1.99 for the first month.

### How do I make an AI duet?

On Jammable, add up to 6 voices to one cover. Auto pick hands each part to the next voice wherever the singing changes, or Choose myself lets you decide who sings each part of an uploaded or recorded song.

### Does the AI change the melody or lyrics?

Not with voice conversion. Jammable keeps the melody, timing and words of your vocal and changes only the voice. To get new words or a new tune, sing them yourself or use a song generator, such as Jammable's Generate Song.

### How do I fix an AI vocal that sounds off-key or strained?

Change the pitch for that voice: +12 semitones for a male to female voice, -12 for female to male. Use multiples of 12 to stay in the same key, start from a clean vocal, and turn on Split out backing vocals if the track has harmonies.
