My real name is Emma, and my artist name is emzae. I am a pop singer-songwriter and producer, releasing independently via my label Zirconia Records. I get asked this quite a lot, and I always struggle to pinpoint one or two key acts who I feel will ‘make sense’ to people who have just listened to my music or are just about to. I don’t know if I sound anything like any of the people who I’ve been influenced by throughout my life, and the truth is I have been inspired by different elements of various artists, producers and mixing engineers. I’m also very much part of the ‘Spotify Generation’, having used it since it first came out in the late 2000s, so there are many songs that are in my playlists which I would know if I heard, but don’t necessarily immediately know the names of, nor do I necessarily like every single piece of music ever created by certain artists and bands.
