Mine Laru (水音ラル) is a male Japanese UTAU character created, voiced, and managed by Minato (水音). Originally released on August 8, 2010, he became one of the better-known furry UTAU/FURloid characters thanks to his deep, masculine, highly expressive voice and unusually large collection of multi-pitch voicebanks. Laru’s character is more than simply “shark-themed”: he is described as a dragonewt and wereshark, with forms ranging from an anthropomorphic shark/dragon appearance to dragon and human forms. He is 21 years old, stands about 203 cm (6'8"), and is associated with a turnip as his character item. He likes vegetables and, amusingly, dislikes fish. Over the years, Laru has received many UTAU libraries covering different vocal styles and recording formats, including strong, soft, dark, and multi-pitch banks, as well as Japanese and English material. His voice has also expanded beyond classic UTAU into newer synthesis systems such as COEIROINK and DiffSinger.
