Chika Takami is the main protagonist in Love Live! Sunshine!!. She is a third-year student at Numazu High School. She is the leader of CYaRon!, a sub-unit under Aqours. She is the leader and founder of the group. Her image color is mikan orange.[3]

She was a second-year student at both Uranohoshi Girls' High School prior to its closure and Seishin High School (albeit temporarily) before fully integrated into Numazu High.

Chika is very energetic, goofy, sociable and has a very strong sense of perseverance. The latter point is especially notable, as it is shown multiple times in the anime, such as when she kept on trying to persuade the school council president, Dia Kurosawa, to let the School Idol Club be approved. Her positive, can-do attitude gradually begins to affect everyone around her as well as the anime progresses. Her energetic and perseverant nature also makes her rather impatient and easy to tease about giving up, only to make her even more perseverant on achieving her goal.

Due to her usual positive nature, however, she tends to hide her more sensitive side and tries hard not to cry when she is sad or frustrated, as she feels it would drag down others' morale if they were to see her feeling sad. This can be seen during Season 1 Episode 8, when she is deeply frustrated on the inside after Aqours' disappointing performance compared to the other school idol groups.

Chika heavily dislikes when her friends get into confrontations, she deems petty, being one of the very few things that can anger her. This can be seen in Season 1 Episode 9, where she mediates a dispute between Kanan and Mari after a nervous Dia is unable to calm things down. She loves and treasures the friendships she's made throughout her years at school, especially with You, who has been her childhood friend. Since Riko moved to Uchiura, however, Chika becomes very interested in befriending her new fellow second year. Season 1 Episode 11 eventually culminates with this on her and Riko comforting a jealous You about this. On the other hand, she's not above making snide, deadpan expressions whenever one of her friends is acting strange, such as with Yoshiko.

In one of the audio dramas, it is revealed Chika not only has a habit making puns, but of explaining them without being asked as well.

Kanata Konoe is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a third-year student at Nijigasaki High School. She is a member of QU4RTZ, a unit under Nijigaku and a member of the original group. Her image color is violet.

Kanata is often described as a nemuidere, a person often seen as being very sleepy and frequently takes naps during the day. She is very easygoing and prone to napping in the laps of others, although in the Nijiyon 4-koma series she seems to like Emma's lap the most. She also carries a pillow around with her at school.

At times, she will appear to be sleeping but is actually awake and listening to what's going on around her. She usually refers to herself in third person when speaking, addressing herself as "Kanata-chan".

Despite seeming always tired, Kanata is motivated as a school idol by her younger sister and others' praise. She often mentions her dream of being able to take a nap with the audience during a performance. Kanata loves being doted on, but is also very sisterly and capable of looking after others. She loves being a big sister, and tends to look after the other idols in various, little ways. Kanata can be very diligent in matters that are important to her. Her grades are good despite her sleepiness.

He is Susumu's father, he also made his first appearance in original DigDug

Nico Yazawa is a main character in Love Live!. Despite her childlike stature, she was a third-year student at Otonokizaka High School until she graduated in the anime's series finale, but still retained her status in Love Live! The School Idol Movie. She was a member of BiBi, a sub-unit under μ's. Her image color is pink.

Normally, Nico has quite an abrasive personality, but when she takes on her alternate personality, she becomes a happy, upbeat character who is always smiling, often saying her catchphrase, "Nico Nico Nii!" (にっこにっこにー), accompanied with a pose. She usually thinks a bit highly of herself but, despite that, she is also caring.

It is later revealed in Season 2 Episode 4 that her obsession with performative, over-the-top happiness and cuteness is because of the difficulty of her home situation. Her family circumstances and the role she plays in it have led her to fixate on both making sure as many people as possible are smiling and also seeking and receiving attention and praise. This manifests in her idol obsession and subsequent persona.

A common joke in the series is that she's often ignored by the other members of μ's when she claims that she is the better idol. An example of her trying to make the others believe she is the better idol is in Season 1 Episode 10 when Nico claims that she has a personal chef like Maki and has never cooked before. Kotori falls for the lie unknowingly. However, she accidentally forgot about her lie when it was dinner time, and ended up cooking for everyone to reveal the truth.

Sometimes, her determination to become the best idol causes her to be a little bit cold, calculating, and somewhat ill-intentioned. An example of this is in Season 1 Episode 6 where she is seen suggesting that the girls hold a karaoke and dancing competition, hoping to outshine the others, so that everyone will accept that she is the better idol and to be able to claim center position.

Nico often gets annoyed with the former student council president, Eli Ayase, for taking away the spotlight from her with Eli's beauty and maturity.

She also argues a lot with Maki, since their personalities often clash together. However, they have a good friendship and they actually care about each other.

Lanzhu Zhong is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a second-year student at Nijigasaki High School. She recently transferred from Hong Kong and is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. She is a member of R3BIRTH, a unit under Nijigaku. Her image color is pink gold.

In All Stars, she was the leader and founder of the Association.

Since she was a kid, Lanzhu was treated as a gifted girl due to her noticeable talents in many fields. However, this generated insecurity in her as she was always eventually left by others because she was treated as "special" and not as an equal among her peers.

Despite showing herself as a charismatic girl, her unique personality tends to catch others off guard by how demanding she can be with them so that they achieve excellent results like her, which leads her to make questionable decisions and to treat people in a way that usually makes them feel insulted. Even so, she doesn't hesitate to seek every possible way to befriend others.

Lanzhu shows herself to be very competitive and somewhat arrogant in the anime, though, she doesn't appear as hostile and rude towards the Club as in the game.

Chihaya Anon is a first-year student at Haneoka Girls' High School and the rhythm guitarist for MyGO!!!!!. She also handles both the band's costumes (which she calls "ANON TOKYO" brand clothes) and social media.

Sophy Hojo (北条そふぃ Hōjō Sofi) is the tritagonist of the series. She is a 9th grader at Paprika Private Academy and a cool-type idol. Her preferred brand is Holic Trick and she has a Fan Club. Because Sophy has a weak body, she often goes into Fancy Mode.
