Seto Rika (瀬戸リカ?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise and the leader of the group Merm4id.

Holding "Life's too short not to have fun!" as her motto, Rika leads a positive university life. She loves to dance and sing with her friends at parties. She starts her DJ activities with her best friend Marika along with Saori and Dalia who she met by chance at a club. She is a gifted individual who overcomes anything with luck and charm.

Rika is an active individual who always looks on the bright side of conditions, in contrast with her polar opposite Saori. Described as "The Life of the Party in Merm4id", she can bring anyone into her fun sprees with her charismatic personality, and particularly gets along with the high-spirited members of the other units.

Although one could assume that she is nothing but a wild party animal, especially due to her reputation around the campus, in reality Rika is highly empathetic. This feature of her personality was dedicated to the 5th episode of All Mix, during which Rika first inadvertently loaded Saori with difficult cases of organizing a collaboration with a foreign DJ, and then, sincerely caring for her well-being, was able to provide an impressive help to the former in solving problems that arose.

After the events of Merm4id's side:origin story, Rika eventually grows out of forcing others into her whims and learns to respect their boundaries, especially with Saori. Though she's still down to give other people fun experiences, she now wants to repay those who accept her as she is by giving them the same freedom to be themselves. She also becomes more mindful about not stealing the spotlight or causing trouble for others. For example, she invited Saori to come out of her bubble and swim with her and the others at the beach, but ultimately respected Saori's choice to remain on the shore.

Mizushima Marika (水島茉莉花?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is a member of the group Merm4id.

Marika is an easygoing girl with a comforting atmosphere. Besides being a university student, she also works as a popular model. She was the center of attention upon entering university, but she became friends with Rika, who was able to talk to her despite all the attention. Sometimes her connections as a model comes in handy for Merm4id activities. She loves concerts and is dedicated to her DJ activities.

Marika's father is an interior designer and her mother owns a talent agency. Her older sister is also a fellow model like her too.

Marika has always dreamed of becoming a film actress, being moved by a movie she saw a while ago and wanted to make someone else feel the same way. She studied acting, went to workshops, and even signed with her mother's agency. However, she attended and failed many auditions, including a dance audition on TV to debut overseas. Coincidentally, Dalia also attended that audition, but they didn't recognize each other yet at the time.

Knowing her mother wouldn't always coddle her and that she needed to work from the ground up, Marika decided to settle with modeling to head start her career. Marika used to be closer with her peers when she was younger, but it all changed in high school when she started taking on modeling gigs. Due to her busy schedule, Marika would often arrive to class late or have to leave partway through. As a result, her classmates started perceiving her differently and ostracizing her, thinking that she has no time for them and how the teachers treat her specially due to her fame. She started being alone and says that she became used to that feeling, before Rika was the first one to approach her.

Marika is a friendly and carefree girl with a relaxed exterior. Despite her popularity and professional career, she has a down-to-earth personality and seeks to do more things outside of modeling, such as her dream of being an actress. She can also be playful, joining in with Rika's shenanigans and teasing her unit members Saori and Dalia to expose their flustered side. She is also very caring and nurturing with members outside her unit, even on par with Hiiro, being one of the characters that Hiiro can be vulnerable with. Marika is also quite good at getting along with children or even animals like penguins.

Despite the positive facade she strives to maintain, Marika struggles with insecurities about not meeting others' expectations and admires the confident aspects of her friends that she feels she lacks. To compensate, Marika goes out of her way to uphold the image of the "perfect girl" that she knows many associate with her. She becomes extremely bashful to the point of hiding from others if spotted in her casual tracksuit in public on her lazing off days. This isn't due to vanity, but rather a fear of rejection, rooted in her ostracization at school when she first began modeling.

As a result, Marika can sometimes be a passive people pleaser, a trait further explored in the It's my style event story. There, she and Towa are cast in lead roles for a movie, a job secured for her by Marika's mother to push her acting career. However, the production turns sour when the movie director begins harassing Marika on set. Though she initially endures the situation to avoid risking her big break or disappointing her mother, she is shaken when the harassment escalates into unwanted advances and inappropriate comments that cross her boundaries.

With Towa's support and straightforwardness as inspiration, Marika learns to embody that same honesty for herself. She ultimately confronts the director and announces her decision to turn down the role, choosing to stay true to herself and the girl she knows she is, not the superficial type that the director projected on her. She's even brave enough to face against a burglar while she and Dalia were cleaning an old lady's residence, although truth be told, Marika was responsible for making a mess out of the lady's belongings.

Hidaka Saori (日高さおり?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise who is the DJ of Merm4id.

Saori started her DJ career in high school, and due to her hardworking nature, she's built up a certain level of technique. She decided to become a DJ after listening to a remix made by a person who worked at the club FROLIC. Her pessimistic thinking held her back from DJing actively, even as a university student. Rika forced her to join the unit, but has made up her mind to change her mentality and achieve her goals.

Prior to meeting Rika and the others, Saori says that she was a really pessimistic person and a loner who had a hard time making friends, often doing things alone. She even struggled getting along well with her coworkers at her part-time jobs, which led to her quitting them.

She later found employment with the Sakurada household, becoming Miyu's tutor during the spring of her sophomore year of college after coming across a job posting in her school cafeteria. She quickly bonded with Miyu, to the point of also taking on her maid duties outside of tutoring, and is even well-liked by Miyu's father.

Saori is reserved, but a polite and kind girl. She often acts the straight man of her unit and is the one who always stops Rika and Marika's antics from getting out of hand. As a grounded person who came from a humble background, Saori is quite attentive and cautious, picking up the slack of those around her.

All Mix's fifth episode delves a bit into this relationship dynamic, showing how Saori almost single-handedly has to arrange a collaboration with an American DJ and producer, even going through a severe depressive moment during it due to the need to learn English and a strong sense of insecurity in her music abilities in front of a foreign celebrity. Although Rika and the girls eventually manage to help her deal with it, Saori still has to mobilize her forces to resolve the situation.

Initially, Saori tended to be overly cautious and negative, often retreating into her shell and keeping herself from opening up to new experiences. Over time, however, her encounters with Merm4id encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and become more open to trying new things, all the while staying true to herself and not pushing beyond her limits.

She has also shown herself to be a diligent and altruistic entrepreneur while running Club LAGOON's café counterpart for the senior citizens in the neighborhood. Her unit members often joked that her reserved and mellow personality made her especially approachable to the elderly. However, her focus on the venture eventually made her somewhat distant and cold toher unit members, and her overambition led her to overlook the practical priorities of running a café. Learning from this, she chose to manage the café on a smaller scale, placing greater emphasis on the happiness of her senior customers.

Overall, Saori's experiences with Merm4id helped her loosen up, approach challenges with confidence, and take things in stride.

Matsuyama Dalia (松山ダリア?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is a member of the group Merm4id.

Dalia devotes herself to practicing ballet, traditional Japanese dance, contemporary dance, and any other dance form in order to become a genre-exceeding dancer. She sees something that she lacks in Rika's positivity, and decides to join the unit. She is also a grade holder in martial arts, and acts as the bodyguard of the unit.

Dalia's father is a three-star chef and her brother is training to become a chef too.

Dalia has always dreamed to perform at Broadway someday. In high school, Dalia once participated in a dance audition on TV to debut overseas. However, she didn't pass, which she didn't regret, since she felt that her dancing skills weren't polished at the time. Coincidentally, Marika also attended the audition, but they didn't recognize each other yet at the time.

She also trained at a karate dojo in the past with Maho, capable of breaking roof tiles with one hand and never lost to opponents larger than her. As a result, she was nicknamed "Bear Hunter," for her impressive feats.

Currently, she works part-time as a bartender and often invites her friends over to have drinks.

Dalia is a cool and elegant woman, with a sense for style and fun. She has a rather remarkable appearance and personality, combining an outstanding sex appeal with femininity, a calm personality and good athleticism. She's quite flexible both mentally and physically, being able to discipline herself and concentrate on things well. She even states that she doesn't let herself get stressed since she dances off her tension.

Because she puts her heart into her craft, she is a very capable and versatile dancer and can even put on an impromptu performance at the spur of the moment. She's also quite passionate about her bartender job and takes care to understand her customer's tastes.

She is notable for being a very caring and supportive friend, especially with Merm4id and Hiiro. Her groupmates especially shower her with compliments constantly and view her as an admirable role model. Outside of them, Dalia takes on the role of a reliable older comrade and protector for characters like Saori, Miyu and the younger members of the other units. Though she is warm-hearted and compassionate at her core, she's a bit insecure about her strong eyes and worries that she gives off an intense impression at times. So, she makes sure to perform acts of kindness to let others trust her.

Despite her stoic demeanor, Dalia is actually quite afraid of ghosts and the paranormal, explaining that she has no form of self-defense if she were to ever encounter one.

Aoyagi Tsubaki (青柳椿?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise. She is a second-year college student. She is also a member of RONDO.

Tsubaki was asked to join the DJ unit, which was lacking a vocalist, by Aoi, and quickly attracted attention as soon as she joined. She is a natural-born vocalist who has been humming melodies for as long as she can remember. Although she may appear to be confident, she hates to be alone.

Growing up, Tsubaki's parents were always busy with work, which led to her developing a distant relationship with them.

Throughout this, Tsubaki had dreamed of becoming a singer since childhood and even took vocal lessons before joining RONDO. However, after failing her audition to become a professional singer in high school, she lost confidence in her singing. However, because she still was attached to singing and yearned for a sense of belonging, she continued to practice her vocals in isolated churches until she encountered Aoi.

Tsukimiyama Nagisa (月見山渚?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is a member of the group RONDO.

Nagisa is a guitarist who grew up in a rock music-loving family. She came across the club where Aoi performed as a DJ while she was searching for a place to practice, and often visits Hiiro's house as well. Although normally shy, she values friendship above all else and will not hesitate to take a stand when she needs to.

Despite her shyness, Nagisa can be noticeably open or even playful with the people she trusts enough. Notable examples include her friendly behavior with Saori during RONDO and Merm4id's joint hot spring trip, or her teasing Tsubaki about her tsundere side. In addition, Nagisa tends to be scatterbrained and impulsive at times (for example, forgetting to finish assignments, or ad libbing guitar solos and going a bit too fast in the middle of RONDO's performances, something Tsubaki has also scolded her for).

Yano Hiiro (矢野緋彩?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise, and is a member of the group RONDO.

A sleek university student with a mature attitude. She used to go to the nightclub as a customer, but became a member of RONDO after meeting Aoi. She is their backup vocalist and VJ, building the unique worldview of the unit using her knowledge of art. Since she majors in psychology, she acts as the counselor of the unit and listens to the members' problems. Although kind, she scolds anyone that becomes too selfish.

Hiiro's parents are both doctors, with her mother working as a psychiatrist. Because of their demanding schedules, they rarely had any free time to spend with Hiiro. Her mother gave birth to her at a young age and admits that she was selfish and immature throughout Hiiro's upbringing, resulting in her emotional neglect. Hiiro was also frequently exposed to her parents' arguments, and by the time she entered junior high school, her mother separated from her father and left the household, though the two never formally divorced.

The issues between her parents caused Hiiro to become reserved and reclusive, often staying indoors and immersing herself in her imagination as a child.[2] This isolation eventually led to her love for cosplay, as mentioned in one of her card stories. Hiiro explains that she longed to become the main character of an anime she watched as a child, particularly during transformation scenes. She was fascinated by the idea of an ordinary person becoming someone an entirely different and special person, something she wished for herself.[3]

Following her parents' separation, Hiiro lived alone with her father and did most things on her own up until high school, when she joined a handicraft club that aligned with her interest in cosplay.[4] While attending college, she worked part-time at a design office, where she would eventually encounter ALTER-EGO. When ALTER-EGO's costume designer quit, the office Hiiro worked for was asked to take over costume production. Hiiro assisted with designs, and after Masaki took a liking to her work, she was invited to start working as a costume designer, later expanding into VJ work. Although Hiiro was initially so nervous that she felt physically ill when starting this new line of work, she gradually grew accustomed to it. After joining ALTER-EGO, Hiiro moved out of her father's home and distanced herself from both parents, particularly her mother whom she describes as not being very "normal."[2]

Another significant part of Hiiro's childhood was her younger childhood friend, whom she frequently played and spent time with. Hiiro lightheartedly describes the girl as "spoiled", and that she was the source of her nature to look after others.

One day, while the two were playing hide-and-seek, Hiiro was accidentally trapped inside a shipping container. Although an adult helped her get out safely, the experience of being trapped alone in a unlit, cramped space traumatized Hiiro, causing her to develop claustrophobia and an aversion to the dark.[5] Not only that, but while Hiiro repeatedly called out to her friend while being stuck in the container, she never received a response. After this incident, Hiiro lost contact with the friend and never saw her again.

Masaki and Aoi helped Hiiro gradually get used to working behind a confined booth in dark environments. She would even later reconnect with her childhood friend during the A Girl Alone in Solitude event story.

Hiiro is portrayed as a wise and mellow character. She enjoys pampering her peers and often takes on the role of a caring older sister or even a mother figure within her friend group. For example, she frequently looks after Nagisa, ensuring she eats properly, and regularly gives Tsubaki advice on life and relationships. This has led Hiiro to jokingly comparing her check-ins to "parents' day" and referred to herself as "mama." As a clothing enthusiast, she also enjoys recommending outfits she believes would suit her friends, much to the chagrin of those who are less inclined to wear the styles she suggests.

Hiiro is generally forthcoming and expressive, as she becomes easily ecstatic whenever she experiences something precious in her friendships, or when her unit members wear something she crafted. However, Hiiro often restrains her insecurities to avoid disrupting the balance of her relationships, as shown through her tension with her mother and her feelings for Aoi. It is because of that, she is hesitant to reveal her more sensitive and vulnerable sides, such as details about her family life, her phobias, and her trauma. To fight against it, she presents herself as a mature and reliable presence. But over time, RONDO and Marika help guide Hiiro towards becoming more comfortable with relying on others.

Sakurada Miyu (桜田美夢?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise and is the leader of the group Lyrical Lily.

A kind-hearted and thoughtful high schooler with good morals. Finding some analog audio equipment with her friends was the start of her DJ activities. Because of her family's influence, she is well-versed in oldies and the hits of yesteryear, particularly those from the Showa era.

Miyu's family, the Sakurada Group, owns a conglomerate, which has led them to them becoming one of the richest families in the country.

During her time at the elementary school branch of Arisugawa Academy, she was quite shy as a child and didn't make much friends as a result. However, she begins to open up once she became acquainted with Miiko, and later Kurumi and Kasuga Haruna, who attended the same grade.

Miyu is a humble, well-mannered, and open-minded young girl. Though sensitive in intense situations, she is strong-willed and earnest, always willing to take on challenges including those faced by her friends.

Her notable trait is her empathy and compassion for others, and several characters have compared her to an angel, even the Groovy Mix character survey. For example, she helps Kurumi avoid trouble from her pranks and notifies her father to assist her tutor, Saori, in securing an internship at one of his affiliate companies. However, Miyu later feels guilty for overstepping in Saori's job search and apologizes, reflecting her honest and sincere nature.[4]

She often mediates the bickering within her group. Though her unit members frequently drag her into whimsical situations, Miyu rarely harbors resentment toward them, or anyone, in that regard, such as when she showed no outright ill will towards Elsie after she peer pressured her and later badmouthed her and Lyrical Lily's performance.[5] She typically tends to recognize the positive traits of the people she knows.

Because she is prone to loneliness and fears that distance may separate her from those she holds dear,[4] Miyu treasures every moment spent with her friends.

Kasuga Haruna (春日春奈?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise and is a member of the group Lyrical Lily.

With her serious and earnest personality, she volunteered to be a part of the Student Discipline Committee, but always gets roped into trouble because of her good nature. She pretends to not hold any interest in DJ activities, but she can't hide her love of audio equipment which she learned from her father.

As a serious and responsible person, Haruna is often the target of Miiko and Kurumi's pranks, as well as other awkward situations. While she often reacts or attempts to react to this as a straight man, it often leaves her defenseless, especially when it comes to Miyu or Aoi, people she admires passionately. Even though she has her no-nonsense and disciplinarian tendencies, Haruna is a sincere and kind girl who is always willing to help out the people around her.

Takeshita Miiko (竹下みいこ?) is a character in the D4DJ franchise and is a member of the group Lyrical Lily.

Loves to play, and also loves the members of her unit. She is always cheerful, and can get along with anyone. While others might think it's hard to figure out what she's thinking, often times she's not thinking at all. With a love for scary things, she can laugh and enjoy haunted houses and horror movies.

Miiko's family, the Takeshita Group, is known for its technological inventions.

Miiko attended the elementary school division of Arisugawa Academy alongside the other Lyrical Lily members. She had spoken in the third person with her characteristic "-na no" (なの〜) sentence particle since preschool. While some teachers corrected her on it and other students found her strange and avoided Miiko, she eventually met Kurumi who embraced her quirks, and became close playmates with her.

Miiko is bubbly, outgoing, and friendly with everyone she meets, always eager to meet new people and open herself to new perspectives. She also has a fondness for animals and interacting with them, who seem naturally drawn to her as shown in several of her card episodes.

Driven by her dream of traveling the globe and connecting with people across every country, Miiko seeks fun and thrilling experiences, guided by her endless curiosity of the world's wonders. Her energetic personality makes her get along with equally lively characters from other units, especially her partner-in-crime, Kurumi. However, Miiko's idea of fun often leans toward extreme or fantastical, such as horror, supernatural phenomena, paranormal mysteries, wild roller coasters, and she even wants to befriend aliens.[4] She even ropes her friends into adventures she deems fun, inviting the RONDO members to her family villa for a virtual reality horror chase she set up,[5] to hosting a playful "death game" with Kurumi, and Miyu, Haruna, Kokoa, and Hayate as participants.[6]

While Miiko sometimes has her head in the clouds and takes things in stride, she isn't blindly optimistic. She knows when to set aside her playfulness and step up her responsibility in serious situations. She is also deeply sincere when it comes to her friends, being able to connect with them on a deep level and is mindful of their feelings, because more than anything, Miiko wants to bring smiles to others.

Miiko can also be sensitive to the words of those around her, as shown in her third relation event with Kurumi. The two take on temporary part-time jobs at a candy shop as punishment for their pranks, where Miiko is asked to drop her usual vocal tics and speak more formally with customers. Kurumi casually wonders why Miiko started speaking the way she does, which hurts Miiko's feelings, since Kurumi not only forgot how Miiko had been criticized for it in the past, but also that she once promised to accept Miiko as she is. To get back at her, Miiko deliberately changes her speaking style to throw Kurumi off. Once Kurumi realizes her mistake and apologizes, Miiko admits to her own pettiness, showing her ability to be vulnerable and honest.

Ichihoshi Lumina (一星 ルミナ?), also known as her code name, LUMINA,[2][3] is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of UniChØrd.

A virtual singer who suddenly emerged on the Internet and quickly amassed a large following. Calling herself as a "space idol", she does a variety of activities online, ranging from streaming video games to posting her own songs. To achieve her goal of becoming the number one diva in the galaxy, she requests to form a unit with Michiru, Kokoa and Hayate.

In side:nova Season 7 -ENCØRE!!!!!!!-, it is revealed that Lumina is composed with all the data of Aria, the legendary diva in the United States and Neo's mother. In Side:nova Season 9 -SUPERNOVA-, it is confirmed that Lumina's base code is written by Neo's father, Doctor Nova, who wants to revive Aria as an AI. According to Lumina herself, her first command received is "to aim for, and to become Aria." However, due to herself losing the memory about that command, this goal twisted into "becoming the No. 1 diva in the universe." In XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE7, Lumina remembered that, her current "soul" is composed as the combination of Aria and her initial self.

After the events in XROSS∞BEAT EPISODE7, Lumina's soul is installed into a new robotic body invented by the Takeshita, Sakurada, and Shimizu Groups. She initially shared the body with the reborn Proto Lumina, her prototype, with Lumina herself in control of the body, before she uploaded Proto Lumina into a tablet.

Lumina is shown to be quite energetic, intelligent, charming and even a bit cocky at times. Prior to the reveal of her true identity, she was quite secretive and refused to leave her studio, saying it's still not the right time to show herself in-person. In the last episode of side:nova Season 4 -Finding Neo-, it is revealed by Lumina herself, to the other UniChØrd members, that she is in fact an artificial intelligence.[4] Due to her status as an AI, she doesn't understand many things that humans do, and even goes as far as suggesting the others to stop attending school because they're just wasting their time there instead of practicing.[5] To the AI activated for merely four years, information is everything, and thus she is extremely sensitive to those she does not know anything about.[6]

Shinomiya Kokoa (四ノ宮 心愛?) is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of the group UniChØrd.

A first year student at Arisugawa Academy and an honor student befitting the prestigious image of the school. Her true personality is self-assured, and her prickly speech mannerisms are proof that she has no filter. In junior high, she formed a duet with Hayate, and their relationship has progressed to the point where they are now a couple.

She is conflicted upon receiving Lumina's request of forming a four-person unit.

Tendo Hayate (天堂 はやて?) is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of the group UniChØrd.

A first-year student who attends Arisugawa Academy. After listening and resonating with Kokoa's music in junior high, she tried writing poetry for the first time and developed an aptitude for writing lyrics.[1][2] Though she goes at her own pace, she is deeply observant and sometimes says things that strike at the heart of the matter. She is in a romantic relationship with Kokoa.

Hayate's parents met when they were in middle school. They attended the same high school and university, and after graduating from the latter, decided to get married. Soon after, Hayate was born. While Hayate has fond memories of her childhood, and how her parents and grandparents were always kind to her, she disliked and felt guilty about the fact they only got along when she was around. Her parents especially were on bad terms with each other, and she'd occassionally stumble upon them fighting or having heated arguments.[3] Because of the aforementioned facts, she never got along with other kids who grew up peacefully, causing her to feel isolated.

Even though she looks much more mature and aloof than Kokoa on the exterior, Hayate is actually the gentler part of the couple. She has a very airheaded personality but a tendency to make unexpected witty remarks that can range from being random, playful, or evaluative. Said evaluative remarks are a result of her keen observational nature, allowing her to gain new insights. She is also able to keep her cool easily and Lumina has even nicknamed Hayate the "cool beauty of UniChØrd".

Neo (ネオ?) is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is the leader of the group Abyssmare.

The center vocal of a foreign DJ unit that suddenly appeared in Japan, "Abyssmare". Though she is cool-headed and sees those around her as nothing more than pawns, she is a top-notch vocalist. She is rapidly gaining fame with her overwhelming vocals and charisma, but is never satisfied with the status quo. She diligently takes lessons every day to become the world's greatest vocalist.

Neo has been involved in music ever since she was young. She gained perfect pitch when she was 3 years old, started singing opera when she was 5 years old, and started composing songs at the age of 7.

Neo wants to become the world's best vocalist in order to reach out to her father, in hopes of making him return to her life. She believes that her father abandoned and left her grandparents to raise her because her singing wasn't on the same level as her mother Aria's, who passed away when Neo was 9 years old. At the age of 12, she started singing at a park, attracting audience around her, which eventually led to Mitsuhashi Sho finding and scouting her.

While normally appearing stoic, Neo is initially an assertive and cutthroat girl who is passionate, yet arrogant when it comes to conveying her talents. Often referred to as the "second coming of Aria", she rejects this title and lives up to her own high standards. This also leads to her stubborn nature, which is evident when Sho points out her weakness towards Lumina's vocals and she refutes his statements and reinforces her position as the "greatest diva in the world". In spite of this, she is also perceptive of others' talents, approving of Sophia and Weronika when recruiting them for Abyssmare, and acknowledges Aoi's DJing skills.[3] She also acknowledges those who achieve great results with huge efforts, as seen in Stage of the Elite where she praises Rinku for getting super good grades with studying for just a few days (although Rinku did receive some help from Elsie).

"What are you singing for?"

The first time she was asked this question, by Mitsuhashi Sho, Neo became confused. Deep inside, Neo knows the truth that she has no answer to the question, but due to her stubborn nature she refuses to quit singing, eventually leading to her trapped in a slump. After being confronted by Lumina, and being asked the same question for the second time, the thought deep inside her heart finally burst out, giving other members a chance to have a heart-to-heart conversation with her, eventually restoring her to her former glory and freeing her from her past.

Though still quiet and observant, she is now more considerate and open-minded to things and the people around her.

Elsie (エルシィ?) is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of the group Abyssmare.

The self-proclaimed "Number 2" of Abyssmare. Despite her adorable appearance, she is fastidious and intelligent. Things like studying ballet since young and being unable to stomach cheap food make her seem like a young lady who grew up in the lap of luxury, but her exact family business remains unknown. She often fights with Weronika as they don't get along.

Prior to joining Abyssmare, Elsie lived an oppressive life under her very influential father. She mentions she hated the fact that people bowed their heads to her, not out of respect but rather in fear of Elsie's father's influence and wealth. Two years prior to the events of side:nova, at a party, her father had invited Neo to sing in order to "promote the second coming of Aria," and Elsie became mesmerized by her because she glared and talked back at him. Elsie started yearning to be a person like Neo and decided to join her "in order to crush this boring world." Before she left with Neo and Mitsuhashi Sho, she blackmailed her father with a scoop picture of him and demanded him to just shut up and sponsor their unit.

Elsie is regarded as the strategist of Abyssmare, relying on her connections to give her unit an advantage over others. Clever and sophisticated, she can be a snob and is quite snarky and jaded with a short temper.

Despising being looked down upon, Elsie hates being treated like a kid due to her young appearance and short stature. She carries an inflated sense of self and often belittles those she considers beneath her, usually to a humorous effect. She looks down on idealistic types like Miyu and frequently clashes with those she deems immature, namely Weronika and Michiru. But beneath her arrogance lies a desire to be acknowledged for who she is, outside of her father's shadow that made her feared by others. This is why she respects Neo and was even moved by Esora's sincere way of interacting with her, expecting her to have ulterior motives as she also comes from similar position of wealth.[5]

Following the events of side:nova and her transfer to Yoba Academy, Elsie begins to gradually grow out of her cynicism and become more open to experiences she once would have avoided, such as caring for a stray dog with Weronika[6] or going on a shopping spree at a discount store despite her distaste for cheap goods.[7] Though she may not always show it, Elsie is deeply loyal to Abyssmare and values her fellow members, even regarding their bonds as stronger than family ties.[6]

Befitting a wealthy young lady in a Japanese setting, she often uses extremely polite but archaic forms like "desu/nano desu" and "-sama" in her speech.

Weronika (ヴェロニカ?) is a character released on the 2nd Anniversary of the Groovy Mix mobile game. She is a member of the group Abyssmare.

Although a member of "Abyssmare", she has a strong rivalry with Neo and always picks fights with her. She has great physical capacity, is athletic and has sharp dance moves. People around her are often frightened by her quick temper, but she has a compassionate and caring side, especially towards children. She also argues with Elsie often, but usually loses.

Weronika's father is a touring musician working in Japan and used to be a member of a reasonably popular band which however, disbanded after 2 years of activity. Afterwards, he had trouble making ends meet, leading to him returning to the United States, moving in together with, and marrying Weronika's mother who was also his childhood friend. Due to their troubles with money, they had to start living in the poor and dangerous environment where Weronika was born. However, even after Weronika was born, her father refused to work and wasted time by gambling and drinking, forcing her mother to work her fingers to the bone in order to feed her and later on, her younger siblings as well. Eventually, her mother collapsed and ended up becoming hospitalized and unable to work. Around the same time, her father left back to Japan while also leaving all of his debts for his family to take care of.[5]

Due to her surroundings, Weronika was unable to get a proper education and had to constantly protect her younger siblings. Before his disappearance, her father taught her how to sing when he was drunk. Weronika later became involved in her home area's darker part where "people gambled on anything and everything" and she started partaking in singing battles (referred to as "music vale tudo matches"), and was able to provide for her siblings and pay for her mother's treatments, as well as pay off the debts, thanks to the money people had bet on her.

One day, while Weronika was onstage and boasting how nobody really can beat her, the rest of the Abyssmare members appeared and performed after her. Feeling defeat for the first time, and after a conversation between Weronika and Neo, the latter invited her to join the unit. Weronika then took her offer in hopes that one day, she'll be able to overcome Neo.[6]

Amano Airi (天野愛莉?) is a secondary character in the D4DJ franchise. She is a member of both Scarlet Canary and Call of Artemis. She also serves as the in-game navigation character for D4DJ Groovy Mix.

She is the kind older sister of Café Vinyl who has given Rinku and others numerous pieces of advice. She once perfected Call of Artemis with her overwhelming singing ability. However, she lost her motivation to sing and retired. Although she was about to leave from music, she decided to respond to the call of her friends and take the stage again.

When Airi was young, she lived in the United States for a year due to her parents' work. There she met Neo's mother, Aria, while the latter was singing at the local church's choir and was captivated by her singing voice. Airi then decided to join the choir in order to get to know Aria better. Despite their age gap (as Aria was 18-years-old at the time), they ended up becoming very close, with Aria treating Airi as if she were her little sister. After Airi had to move back to Japan, the two would send each other letters frequently until Aria got married, gave birth to Neo and debuted as a professional singer. Finding out about Aria's debut got Airi very motivated, leading to her enrolling at Yoba Academy, and started training seriously in order to get to Aria's level.[2]

Airi met her groupmates Mana, Shano, and Toka while they were all in high school. They decided to team up after she was approached by Toka and Mana.

Eventually they formed Call of Artemis and managed to become incredibly popular; however, creative differences arose among them which resulted in the unit's disbandment. Afterwards Airi started working as a waitress at Cafe Vinyl alongside its owner Kofune Ryujin.

Some time later, fate would bring Airi and Shano together once more when they performed together at D4 FES.[3] After Call of Artemis successfully reclaimed the victory on D4 FES., she decides to pursue a career in music again with the other members of Call of Artemis and leaves her job at cafe behind.

Airi is a warm-hearted and mature character who looks out for the younger DJs of the cast.

Himegami Shano (姫神紗乃?) is a secondary character in the D4DJ franchise. She is a member of the groups Lynx Eyes and Call of Artemis and the former producer of Photon Maiden.

A legendary diva who once stood on stage with Airi at D4 FES. On the surface, she is strict and cool, but she is compassionate and attentive. After a period of overworking, she left the public eye and worked behind the scenes as a producer for Photon Maiden, but is now back in active service as Call of Artemis.

Eight years prior to the events of the main story, Shano belonged to a unit comprised of Airi, Mana, and Toka. They were incredibly popular, which led to talent agencies contacting them. Both she and Toka had always planned on pursuing a career in the music industry, yet they were hesitant to go on without their newfound friends. However, they accepted the offer at the insistence of Airi and Mana, which led to the unit's disbandment and the formation of the professional unit Lynx Eyes.[1] Some time later, fate would bring Airi and Shano together once more when they performed together at D4 FES.[2]

Shano is a mature, cool and level-headed woman. Due to her formal personality she often comes off as strict and stoic, which can lead to misunderstandings about her as a person. In reality, deep down Shano is a very kind and compassionate individual who cares deeply for those around her. This is made especially obvious in the Voice of a Goddess -Sing for You- event, when her inner monologue shows her thinking very affectionately and fondly towards Airi, as opposed to the casual, yet close relationship they are shown to have. Outside of her affection and deep care for Call of Artemis and Photon Maiden, she manages to have a very heartwarming scene when she forms an unlikely friendship with Michiru (whom it is implied she sees her younger self in) as they bond over similar experiences.[3]

Despite her personality not giving off this impression, Mana states that she is shy, although said shyness is only shown around the fellow members of Call of Artemis.[4] Such as in the Call of Artemis main story when Shano admits she had to overcome her embarrassment in order to tell Mana she's happy that she's back, or in Airi's 2023 birthday conversation when Mana teases Shano for not knowing how to use a fryer and she becomes very embarrassed. Additionally Mana describes both Shano and Airi as competitive and sore losers, and Airi believes that Shano is neurotic, and that being her being too hard on herself is the problem.[5]

Kase Mana (嘉瀬茉奈?) is a secondary character in the D4DJ franchise, as well as a member of the groups Scarlet Canary and Call of Artemis.

Formerly a talented DJ with Scarlet Canary, she has been active overseas, but returned to Japan with the revival of D4FES. She has the appearance of a refined older lady, but she has the temperament of an Edokko, a person with a good temperament who hates to hide things from others. She is well-liked and is like a "younger big sister" to the members of Call of Artemis.

Eight years prior to the events of the main story, Mana formed a DJ unit comprised of Airi, Shano, Toka, and herself. They were incredibly popular; however, creative differences arose among them which resulted in the unit's disbandment. Out of this split came Scarlet Canary, which continued work as an underground on-campus unit.

Mana has a very outgoing and cheerful personality and enjoys teasing her groupmates, especially Shano and Airi.

Takao Toka (高尾灯佳?) is a secondary character in the D4DJ franchise, as well as a member of the groups Lynx Eyes and Call of Artemis.

She is a genius DJ who won all the intramural contests at Yoba Academy. After working with Call of Artemis, she formed Lynx Eyes. After Shano went on hiatus, she worked as an undercover trackmaker who will not be named. She is precise but slow-paced and soft-spoken. She has only the bare necessities of life in her home. She likes water most of all.
